Dorsaf Hamdani is part of a generation of singers from the Maghreb and the Middle East who fascinates by the contrast between their attachment to musical traditions linked to artistic classicism, and their modernity. A generation of free, cultivated and resolutely independent women in societies where the development of women's rights and the feminist struggle also involve strong personalities from the worlds of art and thought.
Like the legends it interprets (Fairouz, Oum Kalsoum and Asmahan), Dorsaf is today appreciated by lovers of Malouf and classical Arabic song.
After having participated in various transcultural creations, in particular "Ivresses" based on the quatrains of Omar Khayyam, and paid homage to Fairouz, Oum Kalsoum and Asmahan with the show and the disc "Princesses of Arab song", the Tunisian singer Dorsaf Hamdani launches a new challenge with a new creation: Barbara & Fairouz where she brings together two great singers separated by an arm of the Mediterranean.
